Cestos «riscados» a freixo e papoilas de esteva!

Com os Santos Populares quase à porta estas papoilas de esteva, feitas em papel de seda pelas «trabalhadoras» do mastro de Alta Mora , não poderiam deixar de acompanhar alguns dos nossos trabalhos... Desta vez cestas de paredes direitas, com tampa e com fundo debruado a freixo!
Antigamente acompanhavam os trabalhadores na sua lida diária nos campos, pois eram utilizados para transportar a merenda. Nos últimos tempos e mais precisamente nas últimas semanas vi algumas delas, não estavam recheadas com merendas saborosas, mas som com tesouras, flores garridas e quadras!

Almost in the Popular Saints these Gum Rockrose's flowers, (Cistus ladanifer), made in paper by the women and men that are working in the popular mast of Cumeada de Alta Mora could not be out of our blog.
Many years ago these baskets were used every day by the rural workers, they were used to store their daily meal when they went to the fields. At the baskets' bottom, there are some European Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) stripes, a raw material also very known in Algarve.
Nowadays and mainly in the last weeks I have seen some of these baskets full of scissors, glue, colorful paper and not of delicious meals as in ancient times...
